Review: Chuck 2×21 Chuck Versus The Colonel

I know I don’t usually review specific TV episodes (the only exception being the last season of 24) but I’m trying to diversify.

*Spoilers follow*

And this isn’t a bad episode to try this out with because it seems to represent a fundamental shift in the show - and I’m not just talking about Casey’s promotion.

First off the show was really good. Scott Bakula and Chevy Chase were their usual fantastic selves, and the regular cast was at the top of their game as well. The writing both in terms of plot and dialogue was pitch-perfect but some plot points bare discussing.

I like that Chuck and Sarah’s relationship is evolving rather than becoming the yo-yo or constant reset button such relationships become in other, lesser shows.

As to the intersect finally being out of Chuck’s head and the danger that presents to the premise of theĀ  show I think everyone’s forgetting about the Fulcrum database he absorbed - methinks his dad didn’t extract that particular data. Either he didn’t know it was there or didn’t know how to extract it.

Of course the idea that looking at pictures could take information out of your brain is pretty ludicrous but I’ll chalk that one up to suspension of disbelief.

Chuck’s renewal or cancellation is due to be made public by May 5th - there’s a twitter account out to save the show and it probably wouldn’t hurt to hit the official site if you’re a fan of the show.
