BOTF Is Back Baby
Under a pile it sat, waiting. Like a season whose time had passed, yet one day would return. One day soon.
A perfect storm heralded its return. 3 hours of reality TV, a new computer, boredom with a more recent game, a sleeping child.
I thought perhaps a new computer or the third service pack for XP may have resolved the issues the patched version used to have. Unfortunately not but that was no stop to me for this time around I had knowledge of Wikipedia. Wikipedia in turned link me to ArmadaFleetCommand, a website of BOTF enthusiasts and modders. It was there that I found the Joker patch.
It didn’t just fix the critical things like menus; it even restored the cut scenes that haven’t worked in years. It even seems faster. It did crash once on me in combat but the auto save had me covered.
I shared my discovery with my message board and other BOTF addicts began to come forward…and book multiplayer games. I was bombarded with messages. My work schedule became a widely known annoyance. Many of us counted down the hours until we could test it.
And it worked.
