Last Bus
They are completely retiring the old trolley buses in Vancouver. Coincidently I got the very last run of the very last of these buses. I must say when I saw it coming I was more annoyed than honoured because their capacity is smaller and they’re less comfortable.
30 years old, these buses. Made in Winnipeg of all places. I remember taking these buses with my mom when I was young. Later in life they became problematic as they’re not stroller friendly.
I always thought these buses were from the early 60s, not 1978. Only two years older than me. Damn. And they’re being replaced. Huh.
When these buses first came into service people were listening to Walkmans, then CD players, and now mp3 devices. People used their first cell phones on these buses.
Of course the very next day I’m on one of the new trolleys when someone sits next to me with a Walkman.
