Here We Go Again
Almost exactly one year ago I was faced with a dilemma that very well could have changed the rest of my life. A job posting at my company came up but not in the department I had served for then going on 10 years. At some urging from my very supportive boss I applied. One interview and a lot of soul searching and Star Trek quotes later I accepted the position.
Yesterday I received my performance review for that position which could not have gone better. Over the course of the year I met and subsequently defeated most challenges head-on. I grew and learned a lot about the business world.
And now one year hense I find myself facing a remarkably similar dilemma.
That same person who gave me just the push I needed then has found another position she thinks I can exceed at.
The catch?
It’s a year-round full-time position at a different company.
One of the companies I currently work for in fact, one I don’t particularly feel any affection for and have only been at for about a year and a half. In fact the same person opened the door to that job for me as well. This would be the 4th job she would be directly responsible for me having.
I crunched the numbers and I would actually make less per hour at this new job than I do currently, and I’m due for a raise any day now. But the full time status would in all likelihood increase my gross earnings by something like $7,000 a year even if I left my other jobs as well, which I’d probably need to. It’s a tough choice to be certain and there’s a lot of thinking I need to do before even deciding to apply.
Comments are welcome.

My guess is this is why you asked if I would take over your position? Wow…
On another note, your hard work paid off and Mer noticed it. =D

Actually no, I’m just all about the succession management. I believe a truly good manager is the kind that can go away for vacation and have one of their well-trained staff take over without interruption
