A Call To Arms
There was a feature in a computer game some time ago, one of the Warcrafts if I’m not mistaken, that would call out all your units including the peasants and have them attack the enemy and it’s tonight’s Wørd:
A Call To Arms.
It was generally a move used out of desperation…or humour. Peasants fighting a knight was rather amusing after all. Not exploding sheep funny, but still worth a guffaw.
Ah yes, the joy of comedic one-sided bloodbaths.
What was I talking about again?
Oh yes. A Call To Arms. It was also a title of a DS9 episode in which they prepare for war and eventually evacuate the station.
Suffice to say the parallels and potential usefulness of this phrase is striking.
Here’s the operational plan for the move. Burton has reserved the truck for 10am on the first and I am contractually bound to have access to the new place by noon of that same day. Now last time I moved it was just Burton and me and we managed. Granted I have more furniture, books, and DVDs but I also have an LCD monitor rather than the CRT and most of all, unlike the last move, I have a semi-healthy lead time.
You’d be surprised at all the crap I’ve recycled and thrown out preparing for this and I still have a lot to wade through. When all is said and done in terms of pounds this move is likely to be on par with the last one. Plus the few stairs we’ll have to contend with will all be downwards.
So I hope you can appreciate that the situation is far from desperate or even overly difficult but the more people the less each person has to do and the more time for the post-move feast. All that said, and I do this in no way implying any of my readers are peasants (unless you took Chem with me in high school, then you just might be) *clicks button*
A Call To Arms!
And that’s The Wørd.
Hour 5 of Day 6 of 24 tonight.
